I have this wild clem on our property here in eastern Ontario... it grows madly once it establishes itself. I've heard it called several things but virgin's bower is the most common name. It has a soft sweet scent and will climb but prefers to lounge! lol... will have to look for a picture of it lounging all over a hill side. It will probably be much advanced compared to the wildies here...they usually hit their stride about the end of June to the middle of July. Flowers are very small but gorgeous...like tiny white stars, and when they go to seed they look like fuzzy spiders on the ends of the vines..

Hi Lori, I think your "virgin's bower" might be our "travellers joy" or "old man's beard", certainly a well travelled clematis, it likes our hedgerows over here, it flowers later on during the summer, July August time but our hedges are already covered in it's green travellers cloak. I tried to get it established on my slopes in our French garden but it was too dry and hot and didn't want to play. I don't think this one is anywhere near as aggressive although it grows pretty fast.
