Hi Delonix1, snow & cold do not adversely affect daffodils. It's actually required for them to remain viable.

Wow! That's amazing!
I know they can be grown here. I don't think they need the cold like tulips, though. I used to have them in the ground here. Tulips need to be kept in a refrigerator or they become deformed and ugly here in San Diego.

0h yes that tends to happen under the best of circumstances. Here, you may get a couple good years out of tulips, but they eventually run out of steam. Species tulips will give you a few more years. The squirrels love them for breakfast. I simply refresh the bed every fall.

I know it's definitely best to just buy new ones here. I don't see them too often here, though. I do love the different varieties.
