I thought I had better refresh my memory of this beetle. I found details on the website link below. I had forgotten that they lay strings of eggs on the undersides of true lilies and fritillaria. The larvae are disgusting in that they cover themselves in their own excrement. Thank you for reminding us about this awful but attractive pest. My lilies are just emerging and most of my frits seem to have disappeared completely.

In the south the lily beetle is as bad as the vine weevil, surprised we manage to grow anything at all here lol

A friend in Edinburgh has decided to give up on lilies because they decimated her plants while she was on holiday. People are complaining about them up in Aberdeen too. They seem to have spread north very quickly.
