Hibiscus syriacus 'Lady Bracknell' - before

Hibiscus syriacus 'Lady Bracknell' - before (Hibiscus syriacus)

I bought this one as 'Bluebird' but when it bloomed, it obviously wasn't this variety. The RHS at Wisley were unable to identify it and Notcutts, who breed hibiscus, trialled it and confirmed it to be a new variety. Unfortunately it is too similar to 'Ardens' to be worth producing commercially so I have a unique plant in the garden (although a few friends in the Garden Club now have plants of it too). We have provisionally named it 'Lady Bracknell'. This is the flower when it first opens

Dear Andrew,
I have one similar, but don't know if it is the same hibiscus, do the flowers only bloom about one day ?

Marlee - they last longer than one day but only about three or four, but there are lots of them and the shrub flowers for about two months or more
