Lovely to see the Queen Bumble bee this time of year Sterra.

I agree ... we watched a large Bee going from flower to flower on the Forget-me-nots this afternoon ... such hard-working insects.

In the winter the colony of bumble bees don't survive as they don't store enough food to take them through the winter months, but the Queen does survive and she starts to emerge in the Spring and starts a complete new colony again.

They obviously love Pieris, I posted the same bee on the same plant(not yours obviously) a week ago. The bush was covered in these bees.

We cannot keep them out of the conservatory, some of them are enormous.....

We have a bugcatcher for any insects that come indoors. We place the clear little box over the insect and slide the plastic end across, then free the insect outside.

How posh! I just use any little plastic container within easy reach and slide a bit of hand card over it when the bee's inside...

Just as good Sterra. Most of the insects come in our conservatory when we have the windows open.

I keep thinking about getting one of those hanging strip things to put in the doorway, but can just imagine the cat doing a grab and kick job on it..(and I meant hard card not hand card!)

That made me smile about the cat Sterra. We've had a few cats in our time and they get up to some amazing tricks don't they. A hanging strip in the doorway seems to be a good idea though. You can get some really pretty ones now too.
