Bishop's Hat (Epimedium x versicolor Sulphureum)

I cut off all the old foliage from my Epimedium in very early Spring to benefit from the fresh young foliage.

I like leaves, they can extend the interest in the garden after the flowers have finished.

This is really reliable, have rubra, which is almost as good and a small pink which is slow.

Dawn, are the leaves new? I cut all the old leaves off as they become brown and crispy over the winter, not pretty.

When I cut the leaves off, back end Feb? the flowers were nestling in the old foliage, had to be careful not to cut them away as well.

Dawn, I find the old leaves are taller than the new flowers, which are then not very visible.
