Astilbe 'Fanal' coming into leaf in front of the bottom pond.

Gorgeous colour isn't it, turns a darkish green gradually, then bright red flowers, then the flower spikes in Autumn turn a good bronze colour, which I leave on, because those too are attractive. 3 in 1 value.

I do believe we have this one, but not as vibrant as yours by any means!

I have another 2 Astilbe, a pale pink and purple chinensis, neither has such vibrant foliage as Fanal.

Mine is very poorly, overpowered by ferns and corsican hellebore. Maybe I should move it to somewhere else.

Don't like to be too dry, Tm. The pond takes the run off water from the conservatory roof, and overflows onto this side in winter.

Ok, Siris. That was the reason why mine didn't do well. I really should move it to somewhere wetter, because it's now in the very dry spot. Thanks for your info!!!!!!
