Great colour on this Chaenomeles Mum. I've never heard of this one before.

I have had it for a while now, moved it here so I would be able to see it from my coffee seat. Think it was from Burncoose.

Very vibrant colour!
I only know the common name ("flowering quince" or "boké" in JP). You're so clever, remembering the proper name.

Not clever Tommymoo the label is still attached lol. one that the blackbirds have not demolished. I do not remember names of plants only the common name which I use - Japanese Quince. lol

I didn't know it was also called "Japanese Quince"!
My parents used to grow them and sold them in pots at Flower Auction in Tokyo. There exists loads of different varieties and I remember admiring double-petaled, mix-coloured ones. Those flowers looked almost like miniature rose. Here are some examples of Japanese Quince which are popular there:

When my family moved here from London I was only 15 & although I was very interested in growing flowers at that age I´d never seen these plants before. So when we moved up here & I discovered them growing up the walls of houses & flowering on bare stems in the winter I was VERY impressed - still am!

Thanks for the links to the Japanese site with these lovely flowers, Tommy! I had no idea that such a colour range & flower form existed! You've opened my eyes! :-))
