Dendromecon rigida (close-up) - 2016

Californian shrub growing to ten feet in the wild. Here it is probably best against a south facing wall (which is how I grow it). Prune hard to low shoots in the second half of April to prevent it becoming too woody and rangy. It has a reputation of being difficult to establish, so try not to disturb the roots when planting it.
