Thank Simbad I have done a lot of research on what to feed etc and when and how to nip out the shoots which is the secret to a good shape , I was amazed they have kept 99% of the leaves on the stem , 4 out of the 5 are wanting to flower and I have also read its to do with day length ... and when the cuttings are taken ...

yes my acers over 25 years old and only been potted on twice in all that time ...
