Looks like you've got a lot of potatoes there Alicat - What variety are they? I don't think our first earlies are ready yet!

Hi Petaltracey, they are Lady Chrystl, I am about to dig up some Homeguard, and we will have Swift to follow. The local G. Centre has a really good selection on offer so I asked for some recommendations on varieties and ended up with three lol

That's interesting... OH and I have planted Aaron Pilot and Pentland Javelin. The Aaron Pilots seem to be later this year - It maybe because it turned very cold when we planted them. The Pentland Javelin were planted later, but came up very quickly... Not sure which will be ready first...!

My Dad always grew Aron Pilot.... one of the best. Ours were set back by the cold too but they soon bounced back, I think the Swift will be a couple of weeks yet, and look a bit slug ravaged. That's the trouble with growing on newly cultivated ground I suppose, but they will still be worth it :o)

That's really funny - OH's Dad used to grow Aaron Pilot... that's the reason why we grow them! (And they are very reliable too!) What else are you growing on your plot? We planted up some beans yesterday and spring onions. I know we might be a bit late... I've got a good supply of lettuce. Our plot isn't very big and isn't really that ideally placed. I've got a part of it now earmarked for a greenhouse - which might serve me better... ;o)
