Not sure I like the name to be honest, but the flower is amazing.

On the photo they could be almost any size. When an Iris supplier sent me a wrong 'un, surposed to be short and it topped 1m, I sent a photo with a measuring tape to indicate the size.

This was originally hybridized in Florida, so it may have a problem reaching its registered 8".

Where was 'Helix' hybridized Wylie?, as most of the seedlings I grew of 'Octopus Hugs' x 'Helix' were 8-9 inches, and strangely Gg the first flower on one I saved opened yesterday too!, ruined by the heavy rain though :-(

Same place in Florida by Stamile before he sold his daylily farm to Guy Pierce and moved to California. I just got 2 by Pierce (Wave Effect and Rings of Triton).
Micro-climates also play a big role in flowers. When I get 2 fans that are separated, I usually plant them in two different areas, and I can see how just 50 meters affects performance. Nothing is flat here, so there is also a height difference.

Aaaah that's probably why they do so well on the allotment then , its at the bottom of the hill protected from the wind , we'll see if the ones I've moved into the garden do as well this year !
Still raining here Gg we bought some new garden furniture and it's not stopped raining long enough to use it!!
