Huge leaf to this Hosta

Huge leaf to this Hosta

No idea what its name is though, dark blue centre light green outer leaf. Grew some from seed but none have taken the parent colours. ah well at least I got some new plants.

The one you sent me is plain blue-green. As you say...nothing ventured.

I hope we have better luck with the Primula Japonica and Tutu.

Fabulous colouring.

it is a lovely colour, shame it doesn't come true from seed!

Karen has told me how to split them so think I will maybe have a go at dividing it. Hope I don't lose it.

I'm sure you won't. If your garden is anything to go by Oli' you have have truly got 'green fingers.'

I hate disturbing plants but if that is the only way to get them to grow true then it has to be attempted. I think this year I have actually got to grips with the garden and growing plants from seeds only taken me a few decades lol having the little greenhouse has helped though.

It's a good job the plants in my garden don't mind being 'disturbed' They can get moved about almost as much as the furniture!

lol Waddy I used to be like that with the furniture, but nowadays it is far too heavy for me to pull and push around so have resigned myself to sitting in the same old boring spot for the rest of my days lol. OH used to come home from work and say now where the heck are we sitting today. lol. I used to say a change is as good as a rest. lol.

You sound just like me lol! The furniture stays where it it these days for me too, but I think I take my 'shifting' mood out on the plants, although with a dodgy hip and k******d knees I'm not sure for how much longer !!

same here waddy, two bad knees but have to keep on gardening as it helps keep us fit. That is my excuse and I am sticking with it. I love being outside and hate being inside but today it is cleaning up day and it is raining outside so not much grumbling from me. But I did spend the weekend outside cutting grass and tidying up the borders. Didn't even go to cricket it was so good out in the garden I decided to get on with it.

I can't believe how much we are alike! Housework can always wait...unless it's raining then I get stuck in, so that as soon as it fines up, I can get out there again. I can't just sit about doing nothing...it drives me mad, another reason why I find winter makes me so restless.

I save up the ironing for rainy days, lol spent most of the morning sat at the ironing board. Sun came out late on this afternoon and it was nice but a bit breezy out in the garden. Lottie with us tomorrow and Wednesday and the two youngest are home for family tea on Wednesday so busy few days. Not much gardening done when Lottie is around, but the slide and sandpit get lots of use. :O) I knit in winter so that helps pass away the dark dreary weeks. I have one little cardigan on the needles at the minute but the pattern needs a lot of concentration so that has had to go until the darker nights get here again. :O)

I have to say I try to get the ironing done straightaway as I hate facing a huge pile, but other than the washing and ironing, I can quite happily leave the rest. If you can write your name in the dust, and it bothers you, I'll can always show you where the duster and polish is kept. When we have Eliza and Freya I try to get them both involved in the garden as much as possible. In the past, I've given them a bowl of soapy water and plant pots to wash, which they enjoyed and I got clean pots! On another occasion, if you and mum don't mind them getting rather dirty, I've put potting compost into an empty trough and given them free 'digging' rights with small plant pots and any left over seeds. I had dozens of sunflower seeds popping up last year! In the winter, I write (I'm trying to write a book, goodness knows if I'll ever finish it) or I cross stitch, while I wait for spring. :0))

I think it's a lovely hosta with good ribbing & looks to be one of the tougher type that slugs not so keen on.

Talking about moving furniture I was always changing it round too, I'd try several different arrangements till the room felt 'right' then it could settle.
One time I remember I moved the bed which befuddled my ex when he came home late after a rugby do, he had been trying to creep in without putting the light on & waking me, lol.

love it Greenfinger, keep them on their toes is what I say. lol. The hosta does get a little attacked later on but it is a toughie.

Lol! I can remember a similar situation GF, when my husband had been out celebrating the queen's silver jubilee. I had decided to had a 'shift round' in the bedroom that day as I was tied at home with a young baby. I was awakened late that evening by the muffled expletives of a rather 'fresh' husband as he stumbled around in the dark trying to find the bed!

lol bet it was so funny to see \:o)
