This is a really choice Salvia. Not sure as to its hardiness yet beyond the unheated greenhouse.

Of the cultivars it is right up there with Love and Wishes in my eyes.

The garden would be a much poorer place without Salvias ...

There would be a lot more space in mine without them!!!

I love them. This one is a beauty, pity they're not hardier, I lifted mine and over wintered in the greenhouse but we had late frosts mid may after I planted out. Must have a look for it.

This is a wonderful colour, I do believe we have it...

And we have S. black and blue somewhere, if it survived.

It is hardy'ish in light frost DA. Black and Blue is deffo hardy as long as drainage is good.
DD - I'll be interested to hear if it has survived.

Will let you know......

I must look for mine tomorrow - if, when it stops raining. I took your advice last year Meanie and lifted Amstad and moved to the greenhouse :-) I will try and remember the drainage issue for black and blue, not always possible here due to the clay and a bit late now its planted. You live and learn. I like all the Salvia so much, thanks to Amy, Simbad and yourself.

Hi Meanie, no you didnt but I actually found Robin by googling for seed and I enquired about availability of some seed, he replied and before I could get back to him he messaged and was rather rude to be honest and said something along the lines of - do you want these seed or what, I have them ready to send and you dont have the politeness to say whether you want them or not. I was the purchaser and didnt expect that, I just hadnt had the chance to get back in touch with him. I felt like telling him to stick them up is **** lol, so I never bought them.

Crikey DA, you must have caught him on a spectacularly bad day! He's been nowt but a proper gent to me.

Haha Meanie. I must have. Good to hear you've had a good experience. I resent being treated as a time waster, it was never my intention, I'm not that kind of person. Anyway, please keep adding pics of your beautiful Salvia, love them ?
