In the compost? (kept warm over winter)
4 Jul, 2016
three years ago I bought eight plants at a pretty steep price. I put them in near the first little pond and that 24th of May weekend someone upstream from us let out a huge beaver dam... down came the stinking water...down our hill in a bore that sent water 8 ft into the air when it hit an obstacle! all my new iris plants (but 4) were carried away never to be seen again.... I found this clump three years later about 1/4 mile away from where I first planted them... they were caught up among some alders and blooming happily in the gloom! A friend told me, after I had bought them dearly, and lost them so quickly, that she had tons in her pond and I was welcome to how ever many I wanted..she called them a pest! Well, well, well... now who's a fool? ;-)

Don't we all do it at some time or another, treasure something rare or dearly bought only to find out later someone else is throwing them out by the shedload! Great you found the survivor though..yellow flags are pretty though creatures.

LOL... yes, old boots tough... we've had a drought and our stream has totally dried up..I hope it doesn't make a difference for my irises. We had rain and thunderstorms over night... you commented on liking humidity and at the time I was skeptical...but now, after all this drying wind and heat...the sudden humidity is like balm on a wound. I get it now!
