Sounds great Jen. I've never been to the tropics. Just Los Angeles!

Due to my father's job I travelled all through my childhood changing countries or location every couple of years but have never been to USA even though the company he worked for was American. The 1st country we went to in the sixties was Iran. He was an engineer.

I've never traveled and most of my hobbys, interest and paid jobs were because of my tropical climate wishes.
I kept plants for a University, I ALMOST,got on at San Francisco's Steinhart Aquarium since I had been a tropical fish lover since the age of..13 or so.
So,my only Mangoes ever picked were the small- but very sweet- ones off my young plant.
The bay area has a climate that has a funny effect on tropicals. Dwarfs them..yet they can flower as nice as in the tropics, and they are growing outdoors under sun and in the ground. Only lilliputian compared to Hawaii.
I guess another way to look at it is...bay area tropical yards can look like a Hawaiian yard does in Hawaii from a farther vantage point-lol

That sounds wonderful. Would be believe I envy you. The longest I've ever lived in one place is 11 years and that was my last house in Kent. Then we moved just over 250 miles up north to here. I plan to stay put!!! :-). Your garden sounds and looks from what I've seen in your photos wonderful

Makes me long for my childhood. Grew up in places like Brazil and Sri Lanka where I could just walk into the garden and pick mangoes, bananas and the like.
