Aechmea fasciata when I bought it was one plant. In bloom or not I can't recall. But when it did bloom for good? It has always has a pup or two in bloom all year.
It can look very silver if the lighting is intense bright or filtered. Just short of burning the plant. That's really difficult to do in a temperate climate where the Sunlight changes with seasons. Shadows in winter can be long. Then,in summer its direct over head and hot.
Right now in a good spot. Not great. I wouldn't risk it in the front yard with no fence.
