Mini Wildflower Meadow

Mini Wildflower Meadow

I dug up most of my tiny lawn and sowed a Wildflower Meadow mix. It's really brought the wildlife into the garden and I love being out there watching it.

Well, look who's back on GoY! Hope you're keeping well, Muddy. This photo of your lovely wild flower meadow is on its side on my desktop, but this happens often with new technology apparently. It's ok, I'm getting used to the crick in my neck now .....

My,that didn't take long to post a Photo,Muddy! I've only just left a comment on your blog...:o) As Shirley says, your photo is Sideways to me too..Can I ask,did you turn your camera to get a long shot,by any chance? I ask, because some of my photo's I wanted to post on my last blog were the same...Photo's of tall buildings and churches etc ,when we were on holiday ..I still use the same camera as I've always done..my trusty Canon.. ,so it must be something to do with Windows 10 ,as it's never happened before...There was no way I could fix it..even my daughter didn't know why,so I've got no chance .I had to choose different photo's for my blog, which were taken holding the camera as normal....anyway,it looks really lovely, even sideways on my laptop ! :o)

Hi, this has happened to me, as well, I now only upload photos that I take with the horizontal shots and not the vertical shots, it is a pain because the long shots of plants is often the best way to view them, but at least I can upload safely again, hope this helps ans I love your wild life area, I turned my back garden into a wild life garden a few years ago and I am so glad I did, it has trees and shrubs for food and nesting and a pond for frogs and toads etc. IAs I can no longer get out, it has become the place of tranquility for me and the wild life.

Thanks for that,Lemondog..I thought I hadn't done anything different ..I agree,some shots are much better taken vertically..no more,it seems ! :o(

What a lovely sight. How has the wildlife reacted to the change? and birdwise? I thought about making mine into a wildlife garden but also know that I can't resist adding plants so it would turn into a plants garden again. I compromise by growing lots of wild flowers mostly perenials. I couldn't live without my smelly roses, I have one sofar which I inherited with the garden, but it'll doubtless get nudged out next year when I start the front garden as it's not my colour. Aren't small gardens tricky to design, so many hard choices to make. Oh well I used to complain about my last big one so I'll stop moaning. Back to thinking about which roses I'm going to plant here...decisions, decisions! Btw do you have a pond or any waterfeature in there muddy?

Bloomer I bought an ap on my mobile called 'image rotator' this will automatically put any photo the right way up. It's free and everso easy to use.

I agree Resi - small gardens are always a compromise - a plant wish-list as long as your arm and a garden the size of your palm!
Yes, I do have water. I rescued the old plastic cold-water tank from the loft (out of the skip!), bunged up the pipe holes with wine corks and sunk it in the ground. Planted with Hornwort and Flowering Rush (Butomus umbellatus), both natives, it has attracted Frogs and Damselflies. I also fitted a 'ladder' so Hedgehogs etc. could get out if they fell in.
The 'Wildflower Meadow' has really pulled in more insects and consequently more birds. I love rooting around in it seeing what I can find and identify.
As for the sideways photo, I uploaded it from my phone - I'll have to investigate 'image rotator'.
