What a lovely delicate colours. I've never been able to grow them for some strange reason, this is the first year one is obliging enough to at least try to make a go of it. Won't hold my breath though..

strange as it may sound...I had lovely delphiniums when we lived up on James Bay. A friend and I went exploring and found them growing on an old farmstead which had been abandoned for a couple of decades. The Moose River flooded every spring and the breaking up of the ice pans gouged the banks of the river away in chunks. We rescued three large clumps of beautiful delphs as they were about to fall into the river (the river also had tides and if a high tide coincided with the flooding river huge chunks of the river bank could disappear before your eyes!) Looking back, what we did was a bit dangerous. I transplanted two of the clumps into my garden and they grew very tall and stately. When I came south I tried to grow them with only limited success. This is the first clump to establish here. we will see.....

Interesting to see how they'll develop.
