Is it worth trying Paul? I grow a few veg in pots each year but never grown potatoes.

This year has been disappointing Linda but I ve grown potatoes in bags for quite a few years now and worth it , I think because they free up space in the veg patch for other crops!

I don't usually put manure in the bags or in the ground when I grow potatoes on the veg patch. Just compost or compost soil and mixed and I add chicken manure pellets or fish/blood/bone when planting but not in the soil generally.

sounds good paul thanks for the input am definitely going to do it next yr compost it will be! that way it will free up my veg garden for more squash.

so as it grows you add more compost? do u move it around for the sun?

I don't move them around but, yes, I earth them up by adding a few handfuls of compost every so often as they grow!

so just a couple of potatoes in a bag is all i need? this time i'll go to a nursery for them, even though i had good luck with store bought ones , lucky i guess

Depends on the size....I've had different size bags .thos year. I only had two in each of these smaller ones but I. Previous years I have had three.

Two or three......I have never weighed them but some years better than others......I've just commented on your sedum blog regarding my harvest as I emptied two bags today!
