Dahlia....

Love the colours! Dont know whats wrong with mine...just not growing at all. They have produced, between the seven of them, 3 flowers so far and one opening today. Very disappointed as I really had high hopes for them being from Sarah Raven. If they dont improve soon I think I shall be giving up on Dahlias for good. And this will be my ladt year with sweet peas too. Every time OH gets anywhere near them he gets an instant headache! So no point growing them if not to bring into my house. :( But your Dahlia looks lovely!

Oh dear K I wonder why that is..... I know it has not been a good year for Dahlias our neighbour grows for the shows and he has been very disappointed with his this year so don't give up yet! they also improve the more mature they are........ shame about the sweet peas.....they do have a powerful scent ........

thanks for the encouraging remarks A! I won't give up yet, but I will stop watering them quite so much as I think they might be waterlogged.

My neighbour gave me a small cutting of a yellow dahlia and the slugs attacked it badly but I put a jar underneath the plant with beer in and it caught the slugs. The plant now has lovely yellow flowers on.
