Weeping cherry tree

I made a big mistake by pruning a small quite new cherry tree. It looks like it was dying, so we took away some if the shingle base and have kept it watered. Feed pellets were added by a Gardner. It does look like some new greener leaves are appearing but should I remove the dark green dead looking leaves or leave them to drop off. Will it recover.

It may well recover in time but I don't think you should give it too much water while it hasn't got many leaves. Leave it be to settle in to the ground and grow some roots first.
It doesn't matter about the dead leaves. Maybe the tree would look better if you removed them but they are dead so they'll drop off themselves eventually.
I am not an expert but that's what I'd do.
You could put this in the questions section as JenLewis has suggested. There are people who only read the questions and they are more knowledgeable than me :)

Hi Julie, this has come up under the heading of garden pictures rather then the question part. Being a newbe I'm sorry but I can't answer your questions myself but you will have more luck if you repost in the ask a question part of this site. They might ask you for closer photos of the weeping cherry. Sorry I can't help. Jen
