I 've just ordered a black one from Crocus for my winter greenhouse Sheila!

So mine will survive the winter if it's protected then. Do you know if the greenish ones are tender too?

Sorry, I Don't know. I know they grow in the Canaries outside.

Sheila they can be planted out in a sunny gritty area, but would have to come inside during the winter months.......also the green ones would have to be given the same treatment.....we have been growing them for over 30 years now, the one in the photo is a cutting from our original plant bought at Eastgrove Cottage Nurseries (fabulous country garden in Worcestershire, sadly no longer open) very easy to take cuttings.........when they get too large!!
Karen we keep ours inside the conservatory during the winter months....

Thanks Karen and Angela. I should have guessed - they were all over the place in Sydney's Botanic Gardens in Australia!

Perhaps mine will come indoors in winter and be a houseplant. Thanks A.
