I should try ebay selling. Root the cuttings I now hate to throw away.
I mean,I bought the original plant with a smile and now I toss more then I bought into the recycle bin.

Andy,the one I showed in the Bonsai pot has taken off. I bet it will be at least 2' tall by "real" end of the growing season in late November.
Now,i'm wondering if I should look for a spot in ground? But,I don't need shade!

I know Delonix can grow very fast under good growing conditions. I would be very hesitant to plant it into the ground so small. You planted some into the ground in the past, right? Did they survive?

They were taken. I went out ...gone. One that was left? later it was clearly cut with scissors. I knew that a friend of the tenants sons had sticky fingers.
They moved. Thank goodness.

Oh,and before they were taken,one was starting to stretch out nicely.
I think it can be done. Planted up against a houses hot side and with a overhang? Delonix would thrive all summer and have frost protection in winter.

Andy- btw, The Ice Cream banana- does it have mini bananas? They seem to be sort of short and plump looking to my wife who says she's seen those in the Philippines.
I cant tell yet myself. As green as they are..could be anything.

One last- do you sell from your home? or do you deliver instead local?

That's a horrible feeling to have your plants stolen! I have had several plants stolen over the years.

It's too bad that they got stolen when they were doing so well. You should definitely try more...like I always say: you won't know if a tree/plant will grow until you try it.

Ice Cream bananas are ladyfinger bananas. They usually only grow to 6 or 7 inches long. They taste really good. I've had several big bunches over the years. However, my Ice Cream banana plants looks so horrible! The drought has gotten them so badly.

Mulch,mulch,and more mulch. Its made a difference for me on the water needy plants like Coffee and Tree ferns. Just that if you dont have a supply...its expensive nowadays. I'm now making everything I prune into mulch..even Podocarpus or any tree clippings. I get out the loppers and cut and cut until its small pieces.
Of course the Ash tree's leaves are going under plants already.
Its just crazy its dropping leaves and it was 93f. September started cool,is finally getting warm.

I heard composting before mulching is more beneficial. I can't compost because it brings every big roach in San Diego to my yard! YUCK!!! LOL!

I use the Norfolk Island and Southern Magnolia leaves as mulch. It works pretty well. The soil here isn't as good as in Hayward or the Bay Area. The soil here dries out extremely fast even with mulch.

We did get some rain and gigantic thunderstorms from Hurricane Paine. It also brought us some extremely oppressive humid, hot weather! (for 3 days). Tuesday the humidity was at 100 percent pretty much all day (that's extremely rare!) It felt like being in a sauna!

It's suppose to be very hot and dry this weekend through next Tuesday.

They are talking 100 inland..and Hayward into the 90's. Only two days of that.
How they live through that all summer in the desert?..acclimate or die I guess.

It may be close to 100 degrees here on Sunday, Monday and possibly Tuesday (I hope they're wrong!). Yuck! I hate the hot weather!

From what I've seen, people who live in the low deserts of California and Arizona, stay indoors during the day and all come out at night. I would hate to live like that. I've heard it's the same in the deep south and Florida. I pretty much do that here, I go outside an hour before sunset.
