My PAPAYA has fruited!

Yay! That's terrific! You should have fruit by spring.

You have papayas and my plants haven't set any fruit this year. I think my one year old Thai Dwarf papaya plants may be flowering soon. They flower late and produce fruit in late winter or early spring.

Thanks all. Today the flower shields parted and - there it is- a perfect mini green Papaya.
Never really thought i would get this far.
On the road today they played the old Cure song "Just like Heaven". I thought this summer has been like a botanical heaven..the Pachypodium blooms,the Banana.the great Mango growth. The stuff on the tree's are thriving.

That's great all your plants are doing so well! I think the flower to the right will produce a fruit, also. It looks like a perfect flower.

How tall are you papayas?

About 4'. In three years.
btw- My wife loves the Lemon Guava's. It reminds her of the wild Guavas in the Philippines. Plus she's looking forward to the Banana's. They are larger...but not close to picking.

That's big for the Bay Area. Congratulations! I was never able to grow a Maradol papaya in the Bay Area successfully. The weather is truly getting much milder in the winter (not that it was ever so cold). I do notice that the larger the papaya plants get they tolerate a little wetter, cooler soil. I remember the winter of 2004/05 here, we got 25 inches of rain (the most rain since I lived in San Diego). My papayas were fine through all that rain (none rotted). The papaya forest I had planted was only a year and half old. My plants (at the time) were about the same size or slightly larger than your plants.
