Mine are too Gnarly. I think we are lead to believe they are as tough as old boots so good for exposed areas but just shows better conditions = better display

They grow up a wall and it gets very hot when the sun shines on them. They also get shade in the afternoon.
There's another one near by but not as close to the wall. It's hopeless - few berries and stunted growth :(
Both bought at the same time in the same place.

Dawn

any late frost and the flowers get ruined as well then not one berry , best ones I have seen are on a house wall.

I made sure when I bought them late Autumn that they were covered in berries I have never seen that amount since , I also had one that had scab !!! THAT CAME OUT ASAP

we try ......

Ours have been severely pruned this year......the variegated form never flowers but the green one has loads of flowers and berries both part of a mixed hedge in our front garden no rhyme or reason!!

We get late frosts gnarly. Mine is against a fence panel but quite shaded. Didn't know there as a variegated variety Dd.

Dawn we have been growing it for about ten years but never a flower, always looks good being evergreen thankfully.....OH has lifted the canopy so I have gained more planting space......just finished it so will pop a blog on soon.....

just checked mine today and I can see a hint of red/orange

a 1/4 of what Hywel has but some better than nothing and more than last year , dont last long as the blackbirds will have them.
