a late "charm " of Goldfinches

In the last month, they have been returning to the sunflower hearts with late broods of young. Maybe they sensed this late Indian Summer and we have about 30 at a time sometimes. Having to replenish the feeder daily. The kids are scruffy, messy, ill mannered and they scrap a lot !!
But they are great fun to watch.

One young looking Goldfinch came into the garden late afternoon today ... sipped for a while from the bird bath ... then I spotted our cat watching it so shooed the bird away!
