Potentilla 'Goldfinger'

Potentilla 'Goldfinger' (Potentilla fruticosa)

I thought I had lost this as it was trying to grow under an overgrown shrub, had become leggy trying to reach some light I think. I potted it up last May and it's recovered well and has started to flower.

Its a lovely bright one isn't it? The catalogue of a garden centre near where we used t live listed Potentillas as "the best value for money of any shrub". So true, they just go on and on. Fantastic.

I think I'd better buy one. I like things that go on & on. Which variety would you say is the smallest, short & compact?

According to Google there's one called Marian Red Robin that only grows to 75cm. Red ones do best with some shade as the colour fades in strong sun. I have two different yellow ones and neither gets very tall (lost labels once again...)

Our neighbour has one in her front garden and it has been there for 16 years and flowers all summer....

I dont have the room for sprawling, they have to be compact...
