Not this one ,The Saffron comes from one called the Saffron crocus,I have some of them but never managed to flower them. They can flower them on the east coast of the UK .The town of Saffron Walden is the area to find them,Goy 'Amy' grows some.

This is a beauty. The saffron is the stigmas from each saffron crocus bulb flower. There are three on each flower and need to be harvested as soon as possible then dried.

Saffron Walden is in the North West of the county, getting on towards Cambridge, about an hour from here in the South East.
I think I probably should have said,I can't grow them.I've had them struggle on for a bit then disappear without flowering.

Hi Sheila
your tulip little beauty increases rapidly in the garden here
and there are a couple of C.speciosus in flower in the sun today the other two i don't have but pretty sure they are good doers. Are they going into your rock garden.

I have planted all of the crocus in the raised beds. I had intended to do more planting today but taken up looking after OH. He took a nasty tumble yesterday afternoon. Fortunately there was a doctor on duty able to see him immediately. He checked him over for signs of his having had a stroke etc. and thought he was ok to go home. We had to go back today to let the nurse see the damage and she put strips on the wound at the side of his eye as one part was not healing. The doc checked him over again and gave him some antibiotic eye drops. Doc also advised having the optician check his eyes to keep an eye in case there is any future problem. I had an appointment with the optician this afternoon and she recommended leaving it till his antibiotics are finished.
I have been trawling through old photos to try and id the plants on the rockery as it looks like jungle. Where is your Little Beauty? sun, shade ?

I won a packet with 11 C. goulimyi bulbs at the SRGC meeting last evening. I will get them in today. The packet does not mention leucantha so they might be darker than yours.

Well done you .Do they look to be flowering size, they don't have to be very large to flower.

Hi Bjs, yes they are flowering size and some of them have little bulbils around the base. They are sprouting away like mad so I put them in this afternoon on the new rockery at the back door. I am hoping I get some flowers very soon. The ones I bought last week are already pushing up through the ground. My little Acis are flowering again too which I had not expected. Once they stopped flowering I thought they would have died back.
