Cycad and "Fireball" neoregalia bromeliad. (Cycas circinalis (Fern Palm))

I think I spelled all that right. This is one of my more prized plants...its been through a lot. In 2011 it was down to no fronds due to my bad choice of planting spot- too much shade and it did nothing but fade for FIVE years.
I dug it up,potted it..moved into full sun as possible. Its made a great recovery. Makes a great look in that little yard.
I got to weed a bit more...

Is it Cycas circinalis? I didn't think C. circinalis could grow up there.

It is Cycas circinalis. I was a bit soon to post- the fronds expanded a bit more, and I the fireballs have reddened more PLUS..I weeded the grasses out.
Andy- did you see my latest blog? A nice large Schefflera close to Shin Park. Just a nice taste of what's now growing here that didnt before...not like that.
At least I got in on the change early. This looks like a warm-by bay area standards- and wet winter.

Your C. circinalis looks excellent!

I have seen many Schefflera going in the SF Bay Area...Hayward in particular. I know of several around a building in protected spots in San Leandro that survived the 1990 Freeze with minimal damage. Also, there's some Ficus benjamina that survived the 1990 freeze in downtown San Leandro.

I'll check out your blog right now.

We are getting more rain as I write. One day between now and next Monday is going to be sunny..every other day a chance or will rain.
Andy- hills here are already getting a green tinge. That's December usually.
I wonder how much a climate can truly change in just years if things get so out of wack?

Monday is the day we had all the thunderstorms and brief downpours. It would be nice to see the hills here green up. It's been a while since I've seen that here.

It appears climate change has been happening at an accelerated rate. It's scary and amazing at the same time!
