June Orchid,blooms...

My flea market Cattleya buy- no label- is now in bloom. IF i knew these to be easy to keep over winter,I would have bought more. But,its a mystery to me. So,I have just two. The other a different name. It had a label.

Beautiful. I do not see Cattleyas very often. Stores here are packed with Phalaenopsis and sometime Cymbidiums.
I have dozen of these two varieties and many of my Cymbidiums should be divided. I do not know where I will put them after that. They are large orchids. So far they are outside.

Moth orchids have totally dominated most nursery's. I got lucky hearing about the Flea market vendors..and even then the first time I was there, they were mostly Moths.
The second was a bonanza- Catt's,Fuchsia's, Dendrobiums and big Orchid cactus..
Funny though- the Moth orchids were only $5. At least a good deal!

Me too with Cymbidiums- I have mine following directions to "keep them potbound" by 10x that. But,if you divide at the wrong time they wont bloom they say.
The extra's Klahanie I guess can be gifts.

It's beautiful! It likes mild weather.

I have horrible luck with orchids. My pure yellow and purple Cattleyas died a few years back.

Cattleyas are very common here in the nurseries. They typically grow very well outdoors in semi-shade here...except for me. lol!

I never would have tried with what they sell for on the internet or in bloom here. But out of bloom and at the Flea market- like where I got my Ice Cream banana- allowed me to try at least.
I was at the local Orchard Supply and I notice that even the small common succulents have doubled in price in the last few years. The drought has made them more valuable.
Its getting pricey to garden..the water, the cost of plants.
Its to where I spend more then I used to for better soils and nicer pots. Better take good care of what I have since replacing isn't cheap!

You're not kidding, pricing on plants sure have gone up.

I only sell plants these days. I have so much I only want plants that are very rare or unusual these days.
