Pitcher plant grows pitchers..and grows. (Nepenthes alata)

What was a trial to see if these can even grow in summer..the odd plants grew. So,now, its will they take the winter? Like the Orchids I bought over summer..the day of reckoning is reckoning i reckon.

Good luck! I see these plant for sale here all the time. I've never tried any, though.

I can't see why they would do well for you...just plenty of water, never let go dry. I wouldn't give up if the greenhouse grown pitchers don't stay perfect in the lower humidity we have Andy in a hot summer...the ones it grows in our climate will hold up much better after they acclimate..from what I've seen so far.
They would love the warmer summer nights in San Diego.

I don't know much about carnivorous plants. I don't have much interest in growing them. I think they look very interesting, though. I see many in the Botanical Building in Balboa Park. They grow excellently all year in that huge lath-house.

There are a few highland forms and a ton of hybrids. If this one does fine over winter,I might try the one with giant pitchers- Miranda- i think it is.
One problem with this and other rare plants? If you end up in the hospital for a week...good bye rare plant. One of my worrys.
I could tell the family until I'm blue in the face..and they wont know!..who's would?!

That's a concern, I'm sure for most plant enthusiasts (becoming ill or ending up in the hospital). I'm so lucky I know quite a few people who know a lot about plants.
