This is one of several Veitchia joannis planted throughout the San Diego Zoo. This very tropical palm loves heat and humidity! Photo taken Nov. 2, 2016.

The SD Zoo is very densely planted. It always has been; however, more so now. There's a lot more exotics.
Latania species are not commonly planted here. I have seen some really nice specimens in San Diego, however.

I've been using google to virtual walk through the zoo. A small part so far. I didn't expect to be that heavily planted..but every part that i've seen was packed. Latania was one palm I thought was rare.
Giant versions of some things I've planted the last few years. Cardboard Zamia was one.
I moved mine around until I found a spot where it has done fair.
