I was pulling weeds. They are plumping up. Only unlike temperate things,I might have to wait until next May to try them. I'm guessing, but soon Dec will put all growth to an end.

Water is everything. Too much for a while there was getting me worried. But,nothing since late October. Maybe Wednesday?
This Papaya Andy is getting a really nice stocky trunk on it.
Also- I noticed today, the banana's fingers are pointing more downward, clear of the leafs. Is that a sign ripening is soon?
It got so dry here- I had to water the new Guava's..just not rooted in yet.
Mango looks great,I just wish I knew all this 20 years ago.
SO many things died when now I could have gotten them to do well. Or, the things I never planted because I thought were too tender- Ficus altissima and F. benghalensis when I worked at the U. Just rooted the cuttings and used them at the school plant sale. Never tried them outdoors. Jackfruit..I get that vibe they could do very well here. Next year I might stick one in the front yards...hotted there.

Your papaya looks excellent!
The bananas pointing downward is not a sign of ripening. LOL! It will take several months from blooming before they ripen (6 - 9 month if going through winter). In summer about 4 - 6 month ripening time in San Diego.
I grew F. benghalensis and altissima outdoors in Fremont with no problems. F. benghalensis does go dormant (even in San Diego during winter).
Jackfruit is a whole other story! :>)) It's a very tender plant when young. It despises temps below 55 degrees when young! I wish you the best of luck with them, though.

It's still setting flowers. That's incredible! None of mine have set any fruit. The flowers keep falling off...not sure why, maybe it's just the drought conditions.
