Gnarly I was invited by a member (Spritzhenry) to take delivery of this rose from Germany, limited numbers, to see how it grew, like a trial really, and her rose and mine have done very well indeed.....
Thanks Amy, Siris, and Feverfew, this rose is a star!

Just had a google and another rose has the same name bred in 1969 so the name may change ?
Nice to be part of a trial I was lucky enough to try out
" Manx Marvel " tomato from the Isle of Man, one of either 3 or 4 people to grow in the Uk for the first time for a very long time ....

Gnarly the true name of the rose is Engelsgesicht bred by Kordes, this became corrupted online because it was know as Angel Rosen!!and as you say Angel Face is a different rose altogether...
How did you do with your tomato trial?

Great background story .... the translation is;
Cherub face , Angelic Face, Angel Puss.
I am one of a very few that keep the seed true to name , in fact I may be the only person now ? as I keep the plants that I grow for seed in a mini greenhouse with mesh over to keep any pollinating insects out ...and well away from my main greenhouse.
It was initially bred in the Isle of Man to be grown outside , but I have grown in the greenhouse as well with great success.
I only had 4 seeds to start with , two never germinated, but the seeds were old, but since I have been bulking them up germination is 95% and all look the same in leaf and growth habit and the tomato's all 100% similar in shape, size, and texture etc , so I am pleased and hope they are all true to name.
I keep seeds from each year separate and dated just in case, as then I can go back to my original first year if need be.
I like the, colour, flavor, texture and slightly watery when cut into... its a smallish tomato I would say similar to "Money Maker" in size if you have grown that variety.
In work I have created a "Manx Marvel" competition with fellow gardeners about 6 altogether and in August we have a independent judging panel who grade the tomato's for taste etc and tomato the judge would like to take home lol during our lunch time.
It was a bit of fun the first year but its gone more competitive now lol, mine up to now have won the best flavor each year.
Things people get up to in a office ....
Its not sold commercially by any of the seed houses or available through the heritage seed banks either which is a shame, but I will keep it going it would be a shame to loose the variety.

Well all I can say is, it keeps you out of mischief!! I have to admit I have never heard of a Manx Marvel, but know and like Money Maker...and well done on keeping the seeds true.
