Under cover gardening

The alpine bed is covered for winter. Air can still circulate under the sheeting, but rain is kept off the plants underneath.

Sue - this one is in the top right-hand corner of the garden (beside the fruit cage). It went in at the same time as the foliage garden was planted, so seven years ago now.

Like you Andrew, l have been covering plants and moving others into the greenhouse. There is still a lot of green in the garden though.

Amy - I'm always watching the weather forecasts at this time of year to decide when to cover the alpines. We've had a few air frosts but only one ground frost so far. Very wet here tonight though.
