I always thought this Trillium when it first flowered was not the species sessile, as stated when bought years ago. Looking at a site recommended by Wylie I am pretty sure it is kurabayashii. Picture 3 March, flowers still to open fully.

That's gorgeous. Adding this to my "must have" list. I hope you post another pic when in full bloom. Please?

Thanks Andrew, I was reading yesterday that this is often wrongly named as sessile or even chloropetalum, even in some botanic gardens. Bought from a nursery perhaps 20 years ago, only recently started bulking up. Will remove the ? mark.
Bathgate, USA is the native home of many Trillium. Look for the giant chloropetalum, that is superb. Ps, there is a pic in 'my photos' from last year of kurabayashii in full bloom, till I pic another this year.

This looks to be the same as mine but I couldn't be sure it was given to me many year ago without a name , I'll put a photo on when it blooms its slightly behind yours Sue ..

Thank you. They are comparatively expensive so cherish yours. I would love to get Trillium Grandiflorum. I'll keep my eye out.

Bathgate, on Gou do you get adverts at the side of the page, advertising for sale from Garden centres, the plant group being pictured. Ours obviously refer to Uk nurseries.

Yes, I have the ads on the right hands side, but they are all for the UK. I have sourced a couple local nurseries that specialize in native plants.

That's daft! Ps just seen you snow storm in NY on the tv.

uh, I just want it to pass already. It's a wet messy storm with high winds. I just finished shoveling my drive and the front walkway -what a workout. Not as bad as predicted but I want it outta here. I hope it doesn't head in your direction.

U.K. is forecast colder weather by the weekend, more normal temperatures than the warm spell recently.

Yes it is T. kurabayashii. Checked it against my photo from last April, and it is identical.
