I opened my front door yesterday morning and was met by this creature....

Yep, guinea fowl are prone to wander lust. It's just in their nature to break away from the brood and roam. He/she probably belongs to one of your neighbors. They also aren't noted for their intelligence. They ARE excellent egg layers and one of the best tasting.

i think your visitor is a male because of the large wattles[ those things on each side of the beak] the female has smaller ones.they love high places and are very vocal especially the female. great watchdogs!!!!

What a lovely surprise for you Motinot so cute as he might be a male perhaps he was coming to invite you out for dinner I feel the menue might be scrambled egg me thinks.?

Good to eat , we were given one by a farmer friend ,we plucked it and put it in the freezer ,we then gave another friend what we thought was a pheasant from the freezer we found out after some time we had given them the Guinea Fowl by mistake , we never did taste it ...
