Thanks for all the lovely comments Gillian. The wall is actually finished now but we haven't laid any slabs although we have actually bought them now. I think we're looking towards finishing it all off by Spring next year. I did so want it sorted this year but never mind

You could abandoned the patio and put in a cement pond? then raise the deck out of wood like a dock in one area and stock the pond with fish? Go fishing. It will give you and Gray something to do on those few rainy days you get in the UK lol
