Lovely ... is it 'Guernsey Cream' variety?

Hi Shirley

Come to think of it I did have Guernsey Cream but lost it a few years ago in a bad winter .

I do have growing in the garden at the moment.
Nelly Moser
Jackmanii
Arabella
All large flowered hybrids

All the others have faded away ... they either like my garden or dont.

The seedling is growing in a old terracotta trough so would be easy to replant it in the garden.

Do you think it is a brand new variety being from seed ?

I was discussing with my OH only this morning that I'd like another clematis...just that colour!

Hi Waddy

Its a refreshing colour , I have been waiting ages for them to open so it was a massive surprise to see this colour combination I thought it would of been purple as the Jackmanii is the closest so I thought the seed may have fallen from that ? ... Who knows where it came from ?

I was very surprised one year to find C. 'The President' growing again ... I was sure it had died and didn't see it for at least 3 years. Nature can be very fickle! .....

This looks very like Miss Bateman. I had one in my first garden that disappeared for about five years, then reappeared and flowered beautifully for a year before disappearing again. I bought two for here two years ago. Only one is growing at all, and its a tiny shoot. The slugs absolutely hammer her..they think she is dessert!

Is it in a darkish cold position? Last year my Nelly Moser produced flowers like this, put it down to a cold weather snap. This year Nelly is fine.

Thanks all

Siris I remember your photo and yes its in a coolish dark spot , I thought the same I can easily move in to a sunnier spot as its growing in a trough.

karen I have grown "Miss Bateman" so many other better whites available now I think its a dreadful plant mine was eaten alive as well and the colour is awful.

Thanks 3pbit

That's so funny you should say that GG...I LOVE the colour...it has a green stripe just like this and beautiful burgundy anthers. I think it is my favourite white var...but yes, so grumpy and easily destroyed. :)
