Beautiful ...

You have some really beautiful Rhododendrons and Azalea. Hope you don't mind if I pick your brain, in my front garden is one of the common purple ones. It is in what I call my promblem corner that was very overcrowded with an inappropriate tree and lots of mature blackthorn growing there. I have taken most of them out now but the rhododendron is very leggy and in a bit of a bad state. Have read I can cut right back after flowering. What would you suggest?

Jen
Best done on two consecutive years remove about half the branches down to 12 inches or so when it has finished flowering 2017 those should re shoot but won't produce flowers next year 2018, only the remaining one will flower then when those finish next year remove the rest you now have a compact shrub with half flowering 2019 the rest 2020 hope you can understand, reading it not sure I can. lol

Thanks Brian, made perfect sence. Doing that will ensure flowering each year. Thanks again.
