Lol Amy, I've not a very good sense of smell and noticed that I've got these all over my back garden this year, didn't notice them amoung all the weeds I inherited with garden last year. Now you said about smell, I will have to check them out a bit closer lol.

You would have to have a really bad sense of smell to miss this one Jen ,I bought it from a place called ' Urban Jungle' a couple of months ago ,the flower ( if you call it that ) is huge at least 30cm tall ... i would take a gas mask out into the garden with you if you have loads of them Lol...

Gosh my sense of smell must be bad lol. I took photo of one of mine last week and didn't notice it, think I've got so many due to them being ignored for so long by previous owner and when they went to berry stage just spread.

Oh just thought of reason why I didn't smell it, where I live, next door is field full of sheep one side, cows nearby and crop field and they have been muck spreading so air can get a bit ripe at times lol. Hope it's that and not my sence of smell lol.

Oh dear Amy. I have a very strong sense of smell so think I would have noticed it from quite a distance!!
Go and stand next to a lilac or honeysuckle instead and enjoy!

Thats a shame Amy as it produces a beautiful flower I think I would admire the flower with a peg on my nose ?

Never noticed that Arum italicum had an odour, nor got a flower that large. You should smell Dracunculus vulgaris!!!

I will take your advice and stay down wind of it ,funny thing is I can't smell it today maybe its one of those plants that gives off its odour in the evening or at night time , I don't think I would want to smell that Sue I'd give it a miss !

I think if like my Dracunculus, once they have been pollinated that flower ceases to give off it's fly enticing odour.

I'm thrilled! I just posted a pic of the English Bluebells. It's been very wet but they seem to like it. The clump grows ever larger! I had to post a pic of them for you, even though they aren't in blossom yet... I feel it's a victory if things survive the winter! They like my little woodland stump garden. Can I spread them easily or is it better to leave them alone and let them do it themselves?

I'm off to have a look Lori ,I'm really pleased for you they do spread but it would be better to wait another year the bulbs will be a little bigger ,when you do dig them up do it in the autumn .....
