Lovely bright colour. Are the little black spots dirt or the dreaded gall midge. Do you get gall midge in the Azores?

Fly specks. Fortunately, I don't have gall midge, even though I have the right weather conditions - a benefit from being fairly isolated.

That's lucky for you, but it is present on your island if others grow Daylilies?

I haven't heard of anyone being infected; although the people around here would faint if a daylily (or any plant) cost more than €5.00, let alone one I bought this year (Smiling Cobra) for only €175.00! My main problems are slugs, snails, and earwigs. There is also rust, but not the type that commonly infects dayliles, but rather one from too much rain in the fall and spring and little sun in winter when the sun is too low - I am on the north side of the island, and during December, my front yard doesn't get any sun at all.
