Hi Thorneyside! I bought a hanging basket of strawberries two years ago and I put them in the transfer bed to establish...they didn't do well, but it looks like their seed escaped with the birds and took up residence in a number of places in the garden. They've been mixing with the wild berries that are a carpet on the hill (among the blue violets). I'm so thrilled with them that I'm cutting out the grass with a weed whipper and I don't care if I get a berry (although it would be nice) because the robins are standing in line! Break of day is a chorus of caroling robins! This little patch I'm reserving for myself. ;-)

I have a similar area along my garden wall Lori ,the wild berries are just beginning to ripen,I try to pick and keep a few to freeze for decoration on christmas trifle etc. a little touch of luxury ...

I wish I had better luck with freezing stuff, Amy. seems to turn to mush when I thaw it! That's why I'm thinking along the same lines as Tpb! mmmm... strawberries and cream. What doctor?
