Weldenia candida - 2017

Tuberous perennial from the mountains of central America, only growing a few inches high. In the wild, it is under snow for several months, and requires to be kept dry in winter (although it tolerates our winter temperatures). Needs sun to open the flowers, and good air circulation to prevent the leaves from rotting. A raised bed, covered in winter, has proved to be a successful spot for growing it.
