Largest garden cactus species you can grow.

Impressive. Is it fully hardy, or does it need winter protection?

Its a beauty I went to a car boot a few weeks back a man was selling one like this with his others that were huge, I was tempted but no where to put them here.

It depends on the part of the country Numbers. The usual mild areas are good to go. Colder inland might need protection...but they grow well in cool summers to make it worthwhile. They have a fantastic climate growing range. England to Arizona and 45C weather.

Thank you for the info Stan, don't think I'd risk it up here in Lincolnshire and like Thrupenny, difficult to find a spot for it. Hope it thrives well for you.

I've seen photos of UK gardens with those large ones. Imported from Spain..but no matter,since once planted under the right conditions..raised bed for fast drainage and maybe a warm wall reflecting heat, they settle in.

This one was on sale at a large commercial nursery to boot. I'm sure I've seen them at specialty nurserys at prices I had to just walk away from. X's what I paid for this one.
