'Sad Sack'

This was a bonus plant a couple of years ago. Some of its offspring are blooming this year; and I was hoping that those teeth would be passed on. I have found it may take an extra year for teeth or for a double to show up, so I save the ones that have the potential.

It is difficult to get the teeth on the flowers that are supposed to have them. I have Eight Miles High that doesn't have them until it gets really hot, which is when it re-blooms. Sad Sack didn't have many teeth last year, but is finally growing them.

Sad Sack was a comic strip character who was in the Army, so it isn't that sad.

Another nice one. I remember Sad Sack from being a kid. A neighbour of my brother was in U.S. army based here so we got to have the comics after them.

It was probably in a newspaper called Stars and Stripes. It had a whole page of comic strips every day.
