Looks so much healthier than mine and others I have seen. You've obviously found a spot it likes in your garden.

Sue - although the site faces north, it receives sun from midday until sunset. The plant has been there since 2001 and is obviously happy, usually making 12 feet or more of growth every year (it is cut back to around two feet in spring, just as new growth starts). The roots are growing under paving while the stems grow up a pergola post with rigid wire mesh attached.

Stunning, you are to be congratulated for its quality. Mine is just too dry. I know Clematis like their roots cool and shaded.
