With these palms? It can take a decade or three for them to even start a trunk. After that, they seem to grow much faster..I've been told.

Not a plant to buy then for quickness in growth so this one must be old.

I found a person on the net-Kell- who knows the story on this plant Penny. The owner collected the seed that this palm sprouted from. They told her the bay area was too cold for it grow. Kell posted photos of this palm in 2009..and it had very few foot trunk- maybe 4? Now in 2017 its about 20' + another 10+' of stem and fronds. I think thats about two feet of trunk per year. Its on its way to the 200' they reach in the Andes!

Well it's done very well growing to this height then so much for it not growing to well the bay being to cold it seems to like it there. Not to bad then two feeta year. Wow 200 ft that would be a sight to see Stan.

They also grow in groves,so you just know the Andes valleys these grow in must be other worldly. Nothing like the temperate zone.
