I dropped some lettuce seeds into this trough of Arum Lilies when I was sowing into seed trays. I couldn't have removed them all but, hey, what a crop...lol. I can hardly see the arums.. I've been pulling leaves out for a few weeks now for salads, but these are hearting up.

Surprise crop lol! How did the main crop do?

Only because of the lack of space, I always use troughs for mine. I put lots of scrunched up newspaper in to about half way up before adding the compost. It saves a lot wasted compost and lettuce doesn't need very deep roots. Then I can also position them in the best place, for the sun.
